Brief description of the work:
Currently, I am the manager of the Advanced Physics Labs and a Lecturer
and Member of the Professional Staff in Physics at the California
Institute of Technology. I have maintained my interest in X-ray
Absorption Spectroscopy and synchrotron radiation research mainly
through the literature since my last post-doc in XAS was completed in
late 1993. In my PhD dissertation, under the direction of Dick Hoffman
(NSLS X-11 PRT) at Case Western Reserve University, I used EXAFS in
transmission, fluorescence and electron yield modes to determine the
mechanical strain in thin films of transition metals.
